Tablesorter in Safari 3.1.1

Chip D-2

I have installed Tablesorter on a site but I am having trouble
understanding why the table does not sort in Safari 3.1.1.  In Safari
security preferences, both js and java are enabled.  The table does
sort in IE 7.0.5730.11 and in Firefox 2.0.0.18.

The <script>s portion of the <head> reads like this:

<script type="text/javascript" src="../js/jquery-1.2.6.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="../js/jquery.tablesorter.min.js"></
script>
                <script type="text/javascript">
        $(document).ready(function()
         {
          $.tablesorter.defaults.widgets = ['zebra'];
                $.tablesorter.defaults.sortList = [[2,0],[1,0],[0,0]];
                $("#distributors-intl").tablesorter();
         }
);
        </script>

I tried using alternate script versions "jquery-latest.js" and
"jquery.tablesorter.js" to no avail.  This perplexes me because other
published tablesorter examples do work in Safari.

Is this likely an internal conflict in my page?  Is it appropriate to
post a link to the page here for reference?

Thank you.
